Saving clip previews in non-midi files
When saving a midi clip as .wav, .au or .aiff the file size will increase considerably but the file will not be playable in a phone. The .au (muLaw) format has the smallest size and is playable by windows media player. Alternatively the very small QuickTime .mov format can be used and this will play in the free Apple Quicktime player. The .mov format acts as a wrapper around the original midi clip.
Correct termination of the Midi file
MidiCutter makes sure that any instruments that start playing in a clip also stop playing at the end the clip. This is important if you are chaining clips together in a product like MidiJoiner since otherwise an instrument from one clip may keep playing during subsequent added clips.
Reducing midi file size to a minimum
MidiSqueezer is a sister product which can reduce midi file size to a minimum for mobile phones by taking out extraneous information such as copyright and author data as well as lyrics and synthesizer specific data.
Creating clips in the SMAF (.mmf) format
Once you have used MidiCutter to create a clip you can use the free Yamaha ATS-MA2 converter to create an .mmf file for Sharp (GX10,GX20,GX25,GX30) or Samsung (E100,E108,E330,E630,E700.E708,E800,E808,E820,X100,X108,X600,X608) phones.
Troubleshooting problems starting MidiCutter
Sometimes double clicking the MidiCutter.jar file doesn't work. If a strange message appears from the Java runtime it can normally be fixed by reinstalling Sun's Java 2. Unfortunately the Nokia PC suite can also break the association between Sun's Java and the JAR file and this can also be fixed by reinstalling Java. Alternatively use the command line "javaw -jar MidiCutter.jar" to start the product.

New licenses for a new computer
Everyone buys a new copy of windows for a new computer and it's only fair you should buy a new copy of UTMconverter for a second machine. Remember you are buying a license to run on one specific computer.
